Long Overdue

As promised, here as some of the shots from over the past several months. I’ll try not to let time get away from me and leave such a large gap between posts next time. Enjoy!

Mojave Desert Herpetology Trip

So I know it has been a really long time since I last posted any photos and I apologize for that. Over the course of the next several days I plan on trying to get caught up again, and I’ll start right now by posting some of the photos from the trip to the Mojave Desert for my herpetology class this spring. It was an amazing trip and one of the coolest things I’ve gotten to do at college so far. While we didn’t get to see quite as many animals as I had hoped, we still got to see a lot and have a great time.

Camping Part 1

This weekend I got the opportunity to go on a camping/herping trip with the Cal Poly Wildlife Club. Before you start wondering, no, herping has nothing to do with herpes. You wouldn’t believe how many people ask me that. Herpetology is the study of reptiles and amphibians, and when people go looking for reptiles and amphibians they call it herping. Anyways, it was an awesome weekend and we got to see some neat animals in some beautiful country. All told I think we found 14 rattlesnakes, 2 or 3 gopher snakes, tons of fence lizards, some side blotched lizards, 3 western pond turtles, lots of western toads, and a few spadefoot toads. And the best part, I get to do it all again next weekend! So you can look forward to those photos being up about this time next week.

The Unexpected

Sometimes the shot you end up getting is not the shot you expected to get. For example, I was not expecting to the crazy effects I got on this shot from shooting straight into the sun. But, in this case that’s OK with me because I really like how the shot turned out! Sometimes the unexpected can be good. Also, some exciting news: this blog broke 1,000 views yesterday evening! Thank you to everyone who hasĀ supportedĀ me over the years and I hope you stick around for what I hope to be a fruitful and productive year.

Morro Bay Sunset

This past weekend we had some unusually bad weather here on the central coast. While I can’t say that I enjoy the rain, the clouds that come with it sure do make for some awesome sunsets! Here’s a couple panoramas from Saturday.

Week 2

Here’s week two of my photo a day project.
